Ever catch yourself staring blankly at the parts of your business that don’t thrill you? This is a major struggle for me. I’m thinking, what if I could sprinkle a little bit of the “Experiment and Excel” philosophy here?
Inspired by the bold, somewhat reckless charm of “fuck around and find out,” I propose a more refined approach for the quieter parts of our ventures: “probe and progress.” It’s about poking even the mundane with the stick of curiosity—because innovation hides in the most unassuming places.
Who gets excited about inventory management or regulatory compliance? (I know some folks that do, but it’s not me.) Yet, when we start experimenting—maybe integrating new tech or rethinking old processes—we often unlock efficiency and creativity we never knew we had.
Can we apply our curiosity to the areas we usually avoid? Can the thrill of discovery invigorate the routine? I’m finding that yes, it can.
With one caveat for me specifically – I still find this very difficult, if not impossible, when it’s not “my own creation” or “I don’t own it” to dig in. It’s been a major pain point for me over the past months.
