Talking about Startups and Business

Decoding ‘Drive’

I have been giving thought to what propels an entrepreneur’s never-ending quest. It’s a mysterious brew of ambition, passion, and madness.

The Heart of Entrepreneurial Motivation

For me, this drive has been the rocket fuel that has pushed me into the stratosphere of startup hurdles, including one of the more significant human challenges: fear. It’s not simply ambition; it’s purposeful ambition. It’s not just passion; it’s passion that causes you to wake up at 3 a.m. It’s that elusive something that keeps you going when everyone else says, “It’s time to stop.”

(When you hear “It’s time to stop,” don’t worry about what others think of you at first; just execute.)

The potion is quite effective. Too much and you may find yourself in an unending spiral of work with no way out. If you use too little, your rocket may never leave the launchpad. The goal is to take just enough to keep you flying, but not so much that you lose sight of the stars.

As I consider this, I believe it is vital for an entrepreneur to have control of their drive.

There’s a whimsy to drive, a sort of entrepreneurial magic. The spark that illuminates the dark cavern of doubt. On this lonely road, drive is your trusty friend, whispering, “You can do this,” even when doubts cloud your thoughts.
